Smileys Became Japanese Toys
If you think web smileys are not enough for you, you are in luck! Now it is possible to buy and send smileys in real life. If you want to express your feelings towards someone, but you aren't used to showing it the traditional way, you can get some Kamoji toys and send those instead!
The Kamoji are a Japanese way of writing free smileys. While the other text based emoticons lie sideways, the Japanese are much more creative with their keyboards and use more than 3 characters to express themselves, and by this horizontal technique they achieve an endless number of expressions which are easily decodable. Just by using your imaginations you can create your own set of free smileys; now these detailed expressions became 3D in the way that they are drawn as the faces of little plastic figurines that are expressing themselves with their body parts, but most of all their faces. To give an example, imagine a plastic doll with an disproportionately large egg-shape head, and instead of the usual eyes, nose and mouth the following symbol is drawn on them: (*v*) and this can be an owl. You just need to take a look at them and you immediately understand their meaning. I wrote a detailed post explaining and showing these Japanese emoticons, so you can read more about it there.
The point of these toys is to be hip and modern, appeal to the internet using community, and be express your feelings in a non-verbal way. They are a happy bunch of real-life smileys, and they can be bought and mailed worldwide.
I know many people who are not big fans of text based emoticons, and that is perfectly all right as well. Nowadays you can download free smileys anywhere on the internet. That reminds me, the smiley-dolls cost less than a dollar, so they aren't a bank breaker either.
